Brake Linings Production Line.

Production process: Mixing, In accordance to agreed technology, ingredients than being weighted and poured into mixer to form homogenic mixture of raw materials which will be later use to form a brake lining. The outcome of the mixing process is a MIXTURE. Each mixing batch gets it own unique identification number and being transported to the pressing hall were it will formed into brake lining. Pressing, Pressing (forming) process starts at weighing mixture in right portion to enable forming lining in expected size. Weighted mixture’s portion is being poured into hot mold to be further pressed under specific pressure, temperature and time cycle. Pressing process, related to type and size of lining pressed, last between 8-12 minutes. The outcome of the pressing process is semi finished lining or slab. Finishing/Processing, Next stage is processing of the semi finished linings. The goal of this stage is to give final and exact dimensions to the semi finished product. This process contain of up to eight stages; slab cutting, inner radius grinding, side cutting, outer diameter grinding, drilling, chamfering, cleaning, controlling, marking and packing. Semi finished product start the processing usually at the inner radius surface grinding to achieve the exact inner radius of the finished product. Next step is sides grinding a process that define the exact width of final product and can also create, when needed, the wear indicator (a special cut that enable user to evaluate the rate of wear of the lining when it is on the vehicle). Next stage is the outer surface grinding. This is a stage that compares the outer radius dimension of the final product to the brake drum diameter of the vehicle. This process assures brake efficiency from the very beginning of the brake use. Drilling process is a process in which the semi finished product is being drilled in certain pattern to enable later on exact fitting of finished product on the braking shoe. Chamfering is a process that gives final shape of the finished product, to enable easy and smooth installing of brake drum on top of brake shoe with linings on the vehicle. (Chamfering is not used on all brake linings). Processed brake linings are being air cleaned and than being finally checked to confirm its compliance with technical documentation. Controlled linings being stamped and packed into axle sets and become a finished product ready for sale. Quality control process is embedded within the production process on each stage. Hence final quality control is being made based on a statistic sample.
